How do you want your day to look like? It all depends on your first move in the morning. If your first move is grabbing your phone or making your cup of coffee, then you just made a bad move in your day.

Spending time with God should be the most important thing in your day but early in the morning before the devil grabs anything from your thoughts. Mark 1:35 says that very early in the morning while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went off to a solitary place where he prayed. If Jesus did it, then so could we. He knew the importance of praying early in the morning. When I was growing up, this was a priority in the morning and at night. I couldn’t fully understand it much when I was younger, but now I realize that the communion with Jesus being the first thing in the morning prepares your day. Give the Lord your first fruits of your day out of all other priorities you may have, and then you’ll find your day starting with full enthusiasm and in a better spirit.

You need quality time with God first thing in the morning. Don’t try to push it back because you’ll realize that you gone so many days without speaking with your Lord or reading his Word. Just prioritize your soul and everything comes after. He restores your soul every morning; you will see things differently and clearly. There will be less room to consume ungodly things. May the Lord show you a way to start with him every morning in devotion.
