Anyone can be grateful but not everyone like being grateful. Just because some people feel like the creator owes the creation something there’s no need to be grateful. What you don’t know is being grateful is more beneficial for the creation or the receiver then the creator or the provider.
Being grateful is an act of a will, also a warm feeling towards God or the giver. Being grateful is like eating healthy because there’s plenty of benefits in eating healthy. Research confirms that gratitude increases happiness and reduces depression. Also, gratitude grows your faith because being grateful makes you believe more and more that God can still and will do more. The Bible says give thanks to the Lord in all circumstances for it is the will of God for you. Thanksgiving is not just a holiday, it is a lifestyle. In Psalms 100:4-5 it says enter his gates with thanksgiving, into his courts with praise, give thanks to him and praise his name; for the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. Another reason to be grateful is that God is good and is faithful towards us, and our family and friends. Being thankful for the cross alone is a big thing because who else would have taken our place on that cross knowing that they were going to suffer like Jesus, the Son of God. He sent his one and only son to die for our sins so that we could get eternal life. Instead of complaining so many times for certain things that didn’t work out the way we wanted, better start thanking God for yesterday’s gifts.
Who wants to be grateful this morning? Each day we live is a gift from God. Even if you haven’t been grateful before, he can forgive you and you can start over with him. According to 2 Corinthians 4:15, being grateful is for our own good. It says, all this is for your benefit so that the grace that is reaching more and more, he may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God. I’ll challenge you to be more grateful then you’ll see how much your daily life will change. May the Good Lord give you more grace to be grateful in everyday little things even in the ones you seem not to understand.
